"The Power of Dharma is a gracious gift to the world. This book represents the true spirit of India but in addition it also shows the relevance of the ancient wisdom to modern times. The Power of Dharma is a bridge between past and present, between the East and the West and between the ancient and the modern."
Satish Kumar - Editor-in-Chief, Resurgence & Ecologist
No 91 on Watkins' worlds most spiritually influential living people.

By being intimately concerned with the welfare of others we are on the path to true happiness. Dharma the law of virtue and caring for all is the greatest gift we can give our children.
In The Power of Dharma, Dr.Nicholas Sutton and Hemal Randerwala reveal through ancient Hindu scriptures a way of viewing the world which opens our hearts and minds. They illustrate how Compassion, non-violence and truth are the flags for this philosophy and how our lives should not be dictated by dogma but thoughtfully examined at every level. They show us the significance and importance of ancient knowledge for the global village.

As we become embodiments of Dharma and compassion we natuarally extend our circles of care to include greater numbers becoming agents of moral transformation in society. The Power of Dharma gives seekers of all faiths and those of no faith the tools to fulfil human responsibility – to care for the earth and all living beings- to manifest Dharma. With all of the global issues we face It is quite possible that the messages of this book have never been so important.

I recently saw Ang Lee's award-winning film, `Life of Pi', having read Yann Martel's book (on which the film is based) about a year ago, and I was still reeling from the most memorable line from the movie and film ("I have a story that will make you believe in God") when I had the good fortune to get a copy of `The Book of Dharma.' And if you're like me who is easily touched with inspiring thoughts or ideas, then you will understand my profound disquiet after reading this book--and I do mean that in the most positive way.

"Dharma," as you probably know, is a word that refers to the quality or qualities of an on object. As the book simply explains, "radiation and heat" can be said to be the "dharma" of fire. Dharma is what makes a thing what it is. When applied to human beings, the answer can be much more complicated--and it is a task that the authors of `The Book of Dharma' so courageously and meticulously taken on. The result is a rare achievement of a book whose philosophy will shine brightly down generations.

`The Book of Dharma' is an enthralling read--authors Randerwala and Sutton write in a language that seduces you with its warmth and erudition. They enlighten you with facts and compel you with emotion. They show you the path--pointing at it with a finger, while telling you the gravitas of your own decisions--but they write so in a calm, composed manner that brims with wisdom.

Like the main character in Yann Martel's book, `The Book of Dharma' is more about the morality of our actions and much less about the narrow designations of religion. What matters, what really matters, is the answer to the question: "Are the things we do moral?" Or let me rephrase: "Do we care about our fellow humans, our family and friends, and our planet, and what are we doing about it?" It tackles the issues of rightness and wrongness from both hemispheres of the planet, and shows that, at bottom, the goodness of one's heart is way beyond cultural differences or religion.

As such, the book is a deeply touching revelation of the enduring relevance of ancient wisdom to the lives we live today. If you're troubled with ungenerous thoughts or if you're seeking for something to guide you, then get a copy of `The Book of Dharma' today. The book is also a great gift, as it has the potential to change lives for the better.

It deserves all of five stars.

The Power of Dharma The Universal Moral Principle edition by Nicholas Sutton Hanuman Dass SelfHelp eBooks Reviews

The Power of Dharma is a remarkable book, explaining the concepts of the Dharma of India in a way which is clearly understandable to an open Western mind without compromising the ethics and ideals of the East. The authors ably deal with criticisms of dharma and of those who complain about the sometimes negative situations in the Land of Dharma, pointing out that ideals are always higher than those who aspire to them. Without those ideals there would be no higher rungs on the ladder to aspire to.

Dr. Sutton and Hanuman Dass bridge East and West with their writing, and readers of both backgrounds will be stimulated to think in different ways and grow spiritually. A book well worth reading.
Very Positively written & covering each & every aspect of life. Very motivational book I have ever come across. Highly recommended book.
A laudable book which every body should read clearing many doubts that most of us carry at the back of our mind regarding the "Right" and "Wrong" aspects of dharmic teachings.A must read for children and all youngsters who can learn a lot from this very good book.
This book is for anyone willing to step outside of the institutionalized perspective of life that most of the western world finds itself in. Every sentence is an intuitive and insightful proclamation of the gut feelings that we all have about the way life can be lived and should be lived.
I never really understood Dharma and why a recent friend of mine turned to it to help find inner peace (as she puts it).

Dharma is beautiful in the way it's selfless, but powerful to the one who practices its teachings.

The Book of Dharma is the perfect reference using the knowledge of two individuals that have studied and taken the time to understand and illustrate to others the power of Dharma and how one can apply it to better themselves and their surroundings.
